Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation, also known as Augmentation Mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure aimed at increasing a patient’s breast size. Commonly, it is referred to as “Boob Job” or “Breast Enlargement Surgery.” During this procedure, a plastic surgeon uses saline or silicone implants to enhance the size of the patient’s breasts.

Breast augmentation is a highly personal choice for women, and their motivations can vary significantly. However, the following are some of the major reasons why women choose to undergo breast augmentation:

  1. To increase the fullness of their breasts.
  2. To achieve a symmetrical look, particularly if one breast is smaller or more elongated than the other.
  3. To restore the size and fullness of their breasts to their pre-pregnancy shape after giving birth.
  4. To enhance the aesthetic balance between their breasts and hips.
  5. To boost their self-confidence and enhance their sense of beauty.

Thanks to advancements in medical science and technology, new patients have the option to choose the type of breast implant that suits their procedure. Each implant type has its own advantages and costs, and the Cosmetic Surgeon will select the most suitable one based on the patient’s budget and ultimate goals.

Saline Implants – These implants are filled with sterile saltwater, providing breasts with a uniform shape and size. They are approved by leading global medical bodies such as the FDA in the USA and the IMA for breast augmentation procedures.

Structured Saline Implants – An upgraded version of normal saline implants, these implants also contain sterile saltwater but have a more well-defined internal structure.

Smooth Silicone Implants – Silicone breast implants are a popular choice for breast augmentation. The silicone gel has a smooth surface that closely resembles natural breast tissue, resulting in a more natural look and feel compared to saline implants.

Textured Silicone Implants – Similar to structured saline implants, textured silicone implants are an advanced version of regular silicone implants. They are either micro-textured or nano-textured, giving the breasts a fuller and rounder appearance. These implants are composed of cohesive gel, which prevents leakage or flow from the implant shell.

Breast augmentation through fat grafting involves a two-step process, comprising fat harvesting and fat injection. In this procedure, a cosmetic surgeon transfers fat from other areas of your body to your breasts, resulting in a more natural appearance and feel. This approach is ideal for women seeking a moderate increase in breast size. However, patients desiring a more substantial increase in breast size typically require two fat grafting sessions.

If you meet the following criteria, you are an ideal candidate for breast augmentation surgery:

  1. A healthy woman with fully developed breasts who is dissatisfied with the appearance, size, or shape of her breasts.
  2. A woman with realistic expectations regarding the surgery’s outcome.
  3. A non-smoking woman with no medical issues.
  4. A woman who is not pregnant or currently breastfeeding.

The recovery period following the surgery plays a crucial role in determining the outcome of the procedure. It’s essential to diligently follow your surgeon’s instructions during this recovery phase.

After the surgery, your doctor will closely monitor your overall health. You will typically be discharged on the same day once you have recovered from anesthesia.

Upon leaving the clinic, your doctor will provide you with specific instructions for self-care during the upcoming weeks. These instructions will include limitations on physical activities and the importance of resting.

During the recovery period, you’ll need to wear support garments and elastic bands. You’ll also receive medication for comfort over the course of a week.

It’s normal to experience soreness and mild swelling for a couple of weeks. However, you can usually return to your regular light work routine starting the day after the procedure.

The cost of this surgery is determined by various factors, including:

  1. The type of implant.
  2. The experience of the doctor.
  3. The location of the clinic.

As a result, it is not possible to provide a ballpark figure for this surgery. Your Cosmetic Surgeon will provide you with an actual cost estimate after your consultation.
